The most dramatic section of Hadrian's Wall, following the crags of the Whin Sill with the Roman wall to one side and vast Northumbrian moorland to the other. The route visits Housesteads Fort, the best-preserved Roman fort on the wall. Dogs welcome on the wall path.

Best in spring and autumn. Summer is busy. Winter can be spectacular in snow but the crags are exposed in high winds. The fort visitor centre welcomes dogs in the outdoor areas.
