About this walk
Blackheath Common is a 267-acre open common at the top of the Greenwich ridge, a flat gravel plateau with panoramic views from the Canary Wharf skyline to the north to the Kent hills to the south-east. The 5.5km Full Common Circuit and Lewisham Border Walk makes a full perimeter loop of the common, drops into the wooded fringe along the Lewisham border to the south and returns via the Greenwich Park boundary fence on the north side. The common is entirely off lead for dogs and the wide flat surfaces give the longest unobstructed runs available in south-east London. The village of Blackheath on the west side has multiple dog-friendly pubs and cafes. Blackheath station is 10 minutes walk from the common.
