About this walk
Burgess Park is a 140-acre post-war park in Southwark, created from bombed land and industrial sites in the 1950s and extensively remodelled after 2010. The 4km Canal and Lake Circular takes in the restored stretch of the Surrey Canal (now a linear lake at the park's eastern end), the main open grassland and the Chumleigh Gardens multicultural garden. The lake is the most distinctive feature: a 300-metre water channel flanked by grass banks where dogs can access the water. Dogs are welcome off lead in the open grassland sections.
