About this walk
Crossness Nature Reserve is a 38-hectare wetland nature reserve on the south bank of the Thames in Thamesmead, managed by Thames Water and the London Wildlife Trust on the former sewage works site. The 5.5km walk links the reserve with the Thamesmead riverside path and Southmere Lake. Dogs are welcome in the reserve on defined access routes but must be on lead in the reed bed sections due to ground-nesting birds in season. The Thamesmead riverside section has off-lead access. Southmere Lake provides safe open water access for dogs.
