The Theydon Bois section of Epping Forest is the most easterly entry into the forest and connects directly with the Central line at Theydon Bois station, making it the most rail-accessible part of the forest from central London. The 6.5km Monk Wood and Birch Hall Walk uses the forest tracks south of Theydon Bois village, passing through the varied woodland of Monk Wood, crossing to the open grassland plateau of Birch Hall and returning via the forest edge path. Dogs are off lead throughout. The Bull pub in Theydon Bois village is dog-friendly in the garden.
