About this walk
Highgate Wood and Queen's Wood are two ancient woodlands separated by Muswell Hill Road in Highgate, together forming one of the finest urban ancient woodland complexes in London. Highgate Wood is 70 acres managed by the City of London Corporation with predominantly pedunculate oak, hornbeam and holly. Queen's Wood is 52 acres managed by Haringey Council, wilder and steeper in character. The 5.5km combined walk circuits Highgate Wood, crosses Muswell Hill Road and circuits Queen's Wood. Dogs are off lead in both woodlands. Queen's Wood has a popular community cafe in a converted stable building that is dog-friendly outside.
