About this walk
The Lee Valley Regional Park runs 26 miles from the Thames in east London to Ware in Hertfordshire. The 8km linear from Waltham Abbey follows the River Lee Navigation towpath north through the chain of reservoirs and gravel pit lakes of Fishers Green, with the Seventy Acres Lake and the Hooks Marsh at its northern end. The wetland landscape is expansive and the big sky views over the open water give a genuine sense of remoteness. Dogs are off lead on the towpath and on the Fishers Green open areas. The lakes have numerous accessible grass bank sections for dog swimming. Waltham Cross station is 15 minutes walk south of the Waltham Abbey start.
