About this walk
The Lickey Hills are a 524-acre country park managed by Birmingham City Council on the southern edge of the city, a ridge of Silurian quartzite rising to 297 metres at Beacon Hill and giving views across the Birmingham plain to the north and the Worcestershire countryside to the south. The 6.5km Beacon Hill Circular from the Rose Hill car park climbs to the summit of Beacon Hill, follows the ridge to Bilberry Hill, descends through the ancient sessile oak woodland of Pinfield Wood and returns via the open hillside. Dogs are off lead throughout the hills. The visitor centre at the Rose Hill car park has a cafe and dog-friendly outside seating.
