About this walk
Nunhead Cemetery is a 52-acre Victorian garden cemetery in Southwark, one of the original Magnificent Seven London cemeteries and now managed partly as a designated Local Nature Reserve. The 3km circuit uses the main avenue from the gatehouse, branches into the woodland nature reserve section and loops back via the southern perimeter. The cemetery is genuinely wild in its eastern section, with self-seeded oak, ash and elder growing through the Victorian monuments. Dogs on lead throughout. On clear days, the viewpoint near the ruined chapel gives views across to St Paul's Cathedral.
