About this walk
This is the longest single circuit of Wimbledon Common available to dog walkers, a 9.7km route that takes in the full breadth of the common from the windmill in the east to the Caesar's Camp Iron Age hill fort in the west, passing through the ancient woodland on the northern escarpment, the boggy heathland of Stag Bog in the valley, the birch scrub of the western common and returning via the Queen's Mere ornamental pond. Wimbledon Common is 1,100 acres and this route uses the more remote and less-visited sections. Dogs are off lead throughout. The boggy sections around Stag Bog are particularly good natural terrain for dogs in wet conditions. This walk requires a map or good local knowledge.
