About this walk
Cannock Chase is a 26-square-mile Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Staffordshire, a remarkable surviving area of heathland and conifer plantation immediately north of the West Midlands conurbation. The 8km Sherbrook Valley and Glacial Boulder Walk enters the Chase from Milford Common, follows the Sherbrook stream valley through its mature pine and birch woodland, reaches the famous Glacial Boulder, crosses the open heathland of the upper Chase and returns via the valley floor. Dogs are off lead throughout the Chase on public access land. The Sherbrook stream has multiple bank access points for paddling. Cannock Chase has fallow and red deer; close control near deer is required at all times.
