About this walk

Kinver Edge is a National Trust heathland ridge in Staffordshire, rising to 196 metres above the Stour valley. The 6km Holy Austin Rock Houses and Ridge Walk from the main car park climbs to the ridge, visits the extraordinary Holy Austin Rock Houses cliff dwellings carved into the sandstone rock face and inhabited as recently as 1953, follows the heathland ridge south to the trig point and returns via the woodland valley below the escarpment. Dogs are welcome off lead on the open heathland ridge. The Rock Houses are managed by the National Trust and dogs are permitted outside in the grounds. The Stag pub in Kinver village is dog-friendly.
