About this walk
This second Sutton Park route covers the northern section of the park, a less-visited and wilder area accessed from Banners Gate car park on the north-eastern boundary. The 6.5km loop from Banners Gate crosses the open heathland of the northern plateau, circles Powell's Pool set within dense woodland, follows the western boundary boggy corridor and returns across the central heath. The northern section has the most intact heathland vegetation of the entire park, with some of the best bilberry and heather cover. Powell's Pool is accessible from the east bank for dog swimming.
